Probable one of Toronto's most well-known and sought after neighbourhoods, the Annex does not dissapoint. Centrally located north of Bloor between Christie St. and Yonge St., the Annex has prime access to just about everything the city has to offer. Whether it's to the upscale Yorkville shopping area, the University of Toronto, or the Royal Ontario Museum, Annex residents can walk or bike aorund with ease.
The homes are mostly large and detached Victorians, in the beautiful Queen Anne style. You will have to pay a premium to live in this neighbourhood. If you take a stroll down Howland Avenue on a Sunday morning you'll be more likely to find doctors, lawyers, and University professors tending to their gardens than first-time buyers or young couples. Houses generally start in the $900k range and go to well over $3 million.
Many people who love the area, but don't like the associated price tag choose to live in nearby Little Italy or Trinity-Bellwoods, although Little Italy is getting quite expensive lately as well. Another great alternative that is not too far away is the Regal Heights / Hillcrest area. The homes are often just as beautiful, but buyers can get into the neighbourhood for a little less.
