Toronto's Junction Neighbourhood

The original Village of West Toronto Junction was established around the railway junction in the late 1800’s, centered around the Dundas / Keele intersection. The village amalgamated with the City of Toronto in 1909, and has been a fixture ever since. The main retail strip is comprised of beautiful turn of the century buildings between Keele Street and Runnymede, with neighbourhood homes flowing north to ST. Clair Avenue, and south down to Annette Street. The area can be loosely divided into North and South Junction by Dundas Street West. The south has higher home prices and is generally considered to be more desireable because it is closer to High Park.

Most of the housing stock is detached, with some semi-detached and townhomes as well. To date there is not much in the way of condos or lofts, with the notable exception, the Victoria Lofts Church conversion located at 152 Annette St., completed in 2011.

The Junction is home to an increasingly affluent crowd. The area has a great small town feel, and is quite close to majestic High Park. In fact, the proximity to High Park and the park’s namesake neighbourhood is one of the driving forces behind the real estate boom in the area. Since 2008 or so, the Junction has been considered one of Toronto’s up-and-coming neighbourhoods.
