Anyone who has paid attention to the Toronto Condo scene in the past ten years knows of the meteoric rise of what is today known as King West. Originally a more industrial part of Toronto, the area is now the playground for Toronto's young and affluent crowd. Ultra modern condo and loft spaces have sprouted up with the chic bars, clubs and spas the area is known for. The transformation was complete when the old Crangle's Auto Body shop was torn down and the upscale international boutique Thompson Hotel erected in its place.
Although there are quite a few condos and lofts in the neighbourhood, King West has a rather small footprint with east/west boundaries of Sudbury Street and Spadina Avenue, and north/south between Adelaide Street and Wellington Street West.
People decide to live in King West for the proximity to the downtown core, and don't mind paying a premium for the sleek, modern condos and lofts so prevalent in the area. Those who are attracted by the King West lifestyle, but aren't in love with the associated price tag often choose to settle in the nearby Liberty Village - a very attractive and more affordable option.
